Type Design
Mgr. Lukáš PevnýType Design 1
PV084
:
In the course Type design I (PV084), students will learn to create different types of glyphs based on their knowledge of the history and classification of typefaces, they will try hand calligraphy as well as drawing and construction glyphs in a vector editor. Subsequently, they choose a theme for processing the author's typeface and implement the design of its basic character set.

Type Design 2 and 3
PV085
:
In the courses Type design II (PV085) and Type design III (PV101), students will then refine their design with additional characters, expand and enrich it in another way, or create a completely new author's typeface or other implementation connected with the type design. Author's typeface can have a classical or experimental character, the means for its design can be different. Most often, it is a vector drawing of glyphs arranged in a computer font, but it is also possible to process the alphabet by hand, by working in time or space, by generative experiment, or otherwise. The finished font is tailored to a specific message or student project in which it will be used. Fonts and typefaces created in this courses are presented on the website https://typefoundry.fi.muni.cz/.
